soft pastel & charcoal on paper
Size: 50cm x 70cm (portrait) - slightly longer than the usual paper I use for my art.
This illustration highlights the mountain - this represents the goals, ambitions, dreams, projects, but also what has already been achieved. In many ways this mountain was built ourselves through our hard work, accomplishments and personal successes.
The water bridges the active growing mountain of goals and busy-ness to the calm and retreat-like space on the sunny bank. Here the figure (representing the viewer) sits comfortably and solidly on the rocky seat, looking out over the view.
The figure may be catching her breath, coming up with new ideas or plans, or just taking some reprieve from the action of doing - taking a break from the pressures of life.
This piece brings with it grounding, pause, perspective, replenishment and scope.
